Cavepeople

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I tried to start a fire for breakfast.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It didn't work so well.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Mad as hell.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
We went out for breakfast. It was tasty. But, I wasn't happy about it.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Apparently, on the coast, everyone puts their yard sale signs up in one location. I suppose this works if you have some idea of where the streets are.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
If you can explain this I would appreciate it.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
According to the internet translator this means "better friend". Make with that what you will.

We won a dollar and bought another lottery ticket. This one was defective.

These are the woods.

This is a fort from World War II.

Here is a depiction of Hitler getting stomped on by Santa, circa World War II.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
We got slightly lost in the woods.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Luckily we had left a trail of bread crumbs, just in case.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Unfortunately; some woodland creature ate said bread crumbs.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Eventually we found our way out.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Or so we thought.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The thing about the woods is; they just keeps going.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The path appeared to lead this way.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
But, it ended with a cliff.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is the island of seals or possibly Manatees.

We were directed to get fish and chips at this restaurant. I would direct you there except our waiter was an asshole.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I'm really wishing I had some Black Panther hot sauce right about now.

Back to the world of camping.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Our neighbors lent us this long pointy stick for cooking our sweet potato.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I'm a little confused. It looked like our fire was going.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
As usual, it's hard to tell what emotion I'm feeling at present.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I could complain about it being cold, however, it's camping, it's always cold.

We love food that is yellow.

Camp Camp Camp!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Here is my car. It is filled with camp.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My tent seems to have grown some mold since it was last used.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Here, Megan poses with barbecue tools.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I unsuccessfully attempted to start a fire.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is a giant slug. Our neighbor asked how I knew it wasn't a poop, I said because it was moving.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Here is a smaller, spotty one.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Our camping neighbor (who, coincidently, was also from Roseburg) explained that I was making the fire wrong.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I keep telling Megan not to turn the camera sideways.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Here are some people practicing their golfing on the beach.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Do I need to comment on every picture?
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Can't we just enjoy the pictures without my asinine commentary once in a while?
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This would make a fine inspirational poster.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This one is, slightly, less inspiring.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
There were several beach parties going on within 20 feet of one another.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
These are the Pentecostals. They had a crate filled with snakes in the back of their truck.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This young survivalist was digging a hole (a trench?). We made a point to keep our distance.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This is a Hispanic family. They seemed the most welcoming, so in the end we hung out with them.

These are some angry teenagers having a palette fire.

Back in the old country

This was a Martin Creed installation at CCS. the piece is called Half the Air in a Given Space, it consists of a room filled with balloons. this is a view from the middle of the room.

The great thing about CCS is that art can exist in a vacuum. Where else could you have a show that filled a room with balloons, requiring three attendants to watch the doors at all times and help out each and every visitor who came, set up a system that turns all the lights in the galleries off and on throughout the day, and set up an installation with metronomes set to each and every speed requiring an attendant with white gloves to manually check and wind the metronomes, god knows how many times a day.

This is Julia after the MFA thesis show. It was nice being up at "art camp", it made me a little sad and made me wish I lived in the "country", oh wait, I do live in the "country" and I complain about it constantly.

Due to laziness, the post thesis show party was held at the Spiegeltent. The dj was, quite possibly, the worst dj ever. Attempts at dancing were mostly thwarted.

This is a video by Libby Hux, it's a bunny that can tell your fortune. If I could think of a way to incorporate a video installation in my apartment, this would be the video I would install.

This installation by Alisha Kerlin was also pretty sweet. I would install it into my apartment as well, even though I have had problems with sculptural installations in the home in the past.

I ran into Laetitia, she was very apologetic for not returning an email 10 or so months ago. She happened to mention that last year, while I was at Bard, some faculty had expressed concern that my work was getting dangerously close to Craft. It struck me as odd that nobody had mentioned this to me.

I visited Caesars studio we chated, with his encouragement I decided to make a shotgun synthesizer, he gave me some CD's of new work, one avant and one indie-pop. You should all go out and buy The Lisps album(s). If you can't decide which song to buy, I recommend Pepper Spray, it's pretty rockin.

I attended Dorothy Albertinis reading. After her reading she introduced me to her parents. I briefly thought about pretending I was a faculty member and telling them what a great student Dorothy was and what a joy she was to have in my classes.
