This is a t-shirt I made for Thanksgiving. I think of it as a declaration of my strong feelings toward Thanksgiving
Here is a non-chronological list of things I've done in the past ___ weeks:
My/our very good friend Crispin Webb died around Thanksgiving, his death was due to a coronary disease. We will all miss him dearly. There were various event to remember him, I went to the one at The Stone, it was actually supposed to be a performance by Brenda Hutchinson
I've gone to various concerts, most notably, Kevin Blechdom with DAT Politics, Ching Chong Song, DJ Nron (the name seems a little less funny however many years later, but, he was really good) and this beat-boxing guy, all at Tonic. All of the above were awesome and I saw Sabrina there. I went to Stefan's show at the Stone. Stefan played a very fragile/delicate/vulnerable/... set, it was quite elegant (maybe that's the word I'm looking for). I might go so far to say he was at his best or as good as the time we played together at Cynthia Broan Gallery.
Kelly had a screening at Anthology. Her film using Penelope Umbrico's source material was amazing, I voted it best in show. Kelly brought me her old PC laptop, but, the wrong power supply, so, although there are no pictures now there will be soon.
For thanksgiving I went to potluck thanksgiving with my friend Abby, from work. I brought a pumpkin pie, but, there was so much food that I didn't actually have any. Stefan came out as well and K8 was there as well as Wynne, we played this very strange board/card game where I spent too much of my time trying to understand the strategy of my opponents moves, thus, me and Abby lost. I wanted leftover turkey, so, a few days later I went to super market to get one, they had no turkeys , I got a chicken instead, it's really not the same thing.
At work I was sexually harassed at work by a very large, Gayanese man with a mullet. I don't really feel like going into the sorted details now, maybe another time.
We finished the windows at ABC, they are quite festive. If your near Union Square, you should check them out (corner of Broadway & 19th, on Broadway). Here are some pictures:
The tree and large quantity's of fake snow
A $3000 chandeliers covered in toxic plastic icicles...Awesome.
I moved off of Laura's floor. We were both a little sad, it had been like a slumber party except that each day we went to work. So, I'm staying at the old place in Bed Stuy, since Alison is out of town. It's a little wired, the first day or so I wasn't sure if I should stay in the bed or not.
I'm still working at ABC, which is a relief, because, I was kind of dreading working as a temporary FedEx driver, and having to be a temp garbage man during the week of training at minimum wage
At some point I was working three jobs.
The job in San Francisco got canceled(?) here is the email I was sent:
"After much deliberation about recruiting a candidate for a VISTA
position at ____, we have decided to suspend the search until the next
round in mid-2007, and take some more time refining and planning for
our technology needs. Thus, we will not be able to offer it to anyone
for this current cycle."
wired right? This all after a month of interviews, postponement of getting back to the Oregon job, opting out of the Baltimore job, etc. etc.
So, I'm moving at the beginning of January to rural Oregon (Roseburg, Oregon, specifically) To work for a non-for-profit that teaches artists to be self sustaining. I'm really excited and a little terrified about moving to city with a population of 40,000. I think it'll be really good though and when else am I going to have an opportunity like this. I don't even think I have met 40,000 people, I probably only know like 100 people anyway. I'll be gone for one year, but, I think I'll probably end up back in New York, who knows.
I've been looking for a car, this has led me too a conclusion I was already aware of, but, I'll mention it again, I really hate craigslist. I've also been on the ebaymotors web site, thinking about it, I'm a little embarrassed to say I bought a car on eBay...whatever.
