As some of you may know; I have a soft spot in my heart for Rhianna. More specifically for Rhianna's song Umbrella. ( I would have attached links to the song but 1. it's not that hard too find. 2. you probably already know the song. and 3. if you don't know the song, you would just roll your eyes when you heard it.).
Whatever, I don't care if you think the song is stupid. I happen to know, for a fact, that lots of the things you like are also stupid.
Some time back, I was driving through a city and was listening to the college/alternative/whatever radio station and they were playing this indie-rock/pop/whatever cover of Umbrella. The new version was acousticy with a woman singing (not dissimilar to the Taken By Trees cover of Sweet Child o' Mine).
Anyway, I was looking for the Rhianna cover on the place-where-people-go-to-find-songs-they-want-to-listen-to. I found several covers of Rhianna's Umbrella. Each one was worse than the next, well actually maybe the first one was the worst. I would add links for these bands that did covers of Rhianna's Umbrella, but, I don't want to give there websites any more traffic than they may already have and I wouldn't want my linking to them to be accidentally construed as an endorsement by My Awesome/Actual Camera™.
I guess my point is that I didn't find the song. And the nine or ten covers I DID find were worse than awful. And I forced myself to sit through the choruses just so I could listen to these emotional men (did I mention that all of the copies of the song I found were performed by men with guitars?) try and warble their voices. While I am a man and I DO like the song, it is not a song to be covered by a man. Should a man try and cover Dolly Parton's I will Always Love You? The answer is NO.
Be a F***ing man and sing man songs.

Experiments in textuality

Somehow, I accidentally bought the jambalaya with cheese. Did I mention that I'm mad as hell and if I had the receipt would most certainly take it back and ask the super market; "why did you sell me this? And why the hell would I want cheese in my jambalaya?". Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I think I'll call the folks over at Zatarain's and complain to them. Maybe I'll get some free stuff for all of my whining.

In an attempt to "spice up" Tuesday nights; Little Murphy's has started a trivia night. They have also instated a new (more expensive) menu, with half as much fried food.

Anyway, this is my trivia pencil it has "princess" printed all over it. I win.

In case you were wondering; our team totally won.

This is our bucket of prize schwag. We also received a gift a gift certificate for Murphy's which I used to pay for my meal.

Do they love fish and chips or Jesus and chips? And then; what the hell does Jesus and chips mean?

Here is Thomas singing along with Queen.

This is the piano solo.

Here I am trying to take covert pictures of a man with many gold chains.

Obviously, this may not be the best tactic.

That may actually be him there, but I'm really not sure.

I am thinking that I might actually have to start asking people if I can take their pictures.

Thomas and Steve were arguing about "pure" socialism and "pure" democracy. Lexie and I got bored, so we played pool and argued about "truth" and "beauty".

My Actual Camera

One benefit to using an actual camera is that it means there are plenty of high resolution pictures of myself.

Looking like a bad ass.

It really cuts down on the whole covert photo thing.

and people want to pose for the camera.

I think I'm going to make a fake press badge, so that I can go around snapping peoples pictures with less risk of getting beat up.

Anyway, if you hadn't gathered, this is Steve, Lexie and I at Nilknarf's (hey, I'm not the one who gave it the stupid name).

I met them after my 1 hour 45 minute phone date.

Lexington wanted to defeat Steve at arm wrestling. She was unsuccessful.

So I wrestled both of them.

and defeated them both.

Steve did not take this very well.

I would have tried to stop him...

But, I just take the pictures, I can't really get involved in things that I don't understand.

We eventually moved on to the Scoreboard where singing and dancing ensued.

This is an interpretive dance that Lexington was doing to Wonder Wall.

Which we put on, for the record.

The bartender was slightly less than amused.

Did I mention the benefits of the actualcam?
