Fire(works)

This is Portland. We went to Pok Pok. There we ate boar and drank a whiskey soda ice cream float. This is not a picture of Pok Pok, this is a tortilla lady on the side of a taco truck.

I was trying to take a picture of this baby's freaky little hands, but, it was just too wiggly.

Megan made Mojito's, with Mate (also known as Chimarrao, which, I just learned right now, has very elaborate rules regarding it's consumption) to celebrate the Fourth of July, or was it Canada Day.

One of Blythe's co-workers brought this amazing ice cream cake. It has clowns, tools, ghosts, flowers, Santas, bunnies and I'm sure there is some other stuff I'm not remembering.

When Megan told me that there was going to be bocci ball involved in the holiday celebration; I told her that bocci ball (also spelled bocce or boccie according to Wikapedia (boccie being the spelling that spell-check recognizes as correct (and we all know that spell-check (and Wikepedia for that matter) has never led me astray))) was lame and that it all sounded too bourgeoisie.

I guess I forgot that I am fancy now and love all things bourgeoisie e.g. picnics, white shoes and bocce ball.

Maybe this knife is a little excessive. But, maybe it's an excessive cake.

Surprisingly, no fingers were lost in the holiday festivities.

Here is a picture of holiday party goers. There was a clearer picture, however, no one would have appreciated it.

The streets of Portland were ablaze with fireworks

We found one front yard that must have spent hundreds of dollars (in a neighboring state or Indian reservation) on their arsenal of fireworks.

At various points fireworks would shoot off exactly when a cyclist or a convertible would pass by.

I think some of them probably wanted to come back and pick fights, but didn't for fear of being called un-patriotic.

For the grand finale they brought out, what looked like, a 2 liter bottle wrapped in duct tape. It wasn't very colorful, but it was really loud.

Boozing at work

This is a scale model of my work, made out of cake.You can almost see my office.

This is champagne with sherbet for my bosses birthday. I would have drank more, and while I would like to say it was because I was still "on the clock", it more had to do with the fact that champagne and sherbet is disgusting.

Megan and I decided today was a perfect day for avocado Margaritas. This is my new blender.

Megan was anti my choice of Pancho Villa brand tequila, so we got this kind. It has a very strange twist top that, I guess, is designed to keep you from losing the cap.

Anyway, Steve met some guy at Murphy's while Megan and I were gathering supplies, I think his name was Brian. Brian lives in the mountains doing some sort of research, he had never actually worked a record player before and actually knew what VISTA was. I think we would hang out with Brian again, however, nobody took his number.

But, avocado margaritas? Yes, they were quite tasty.

Just what I needed

These are delicious slices of carrot cake that I received as a payoff for not playing The Cars all evening.

How can you be angry about cake?

I bought this organic carrot cake mix. I probably should have read the ingredients first, it turns out that it's just a box of sugar and flour. I didn't realize that it would be byo-carrots

The cake was fine. Luckily I had carrots to add, they were sadly inorganic and thus; my cake was no longer carbon based.

This is me feeling a little ripped of by the cake company.

Festivals of light

This is the Roseburg Festival of Lights (not to be confused with Hanukkah; The Festival of Lights). This one is a light show that you drive through with 3D glasses, and has nothing to do with looting, massacre, the outlaw of Judaism or candle oil lasting eight days.

Lee Ann had an extra carrot cake, I became the lucky recipient of said cake.

Again, I will note how strange it is for winter to begin and your lawn turns green!

This is a covered bridge...

I ordered a double americano at a coffee place. I was asked what size I wanted, I pointed at the medium cup, the barista said so you want a tall americano in a grande cup, or maybe it was the other way around. I just didn't know what any of it meant, I think I may have been ripped off.

I got this plastic ox for a belt buckle.

After thinking about it I decided...

Who the hell is going to wear a belt buckle with a plastic ox on it?

Actually...I think the plastic ox is on the desk in between the computer and the earplugs.

Thus; I have no idea what that last set of photographs were about.

Lost pixels

I would have just removed this picture, but, I think it's neat. I heard a new term the other day; "lost pixels", I'm not sure what it means exactly, but maybe thats what has happened here.

Here is my elephant belt buckle.

Me and Adam were invited to the birthday party of a local teenager.

It was surprise party. The surprise aspect worked moderately.

We were all given masks too wear. This is me as a scary monster.

This is the teenager for whom the party was thrown. He was turning 21.

I like the 3D grass on the cake.

Black chips

I haven't had much time to cook lately so I'm trying a diet of carott cake and cheap beer.

This is a black tortilla chip I found in my oven.

Kick bowling: sport of the future

For one reason or another the guy who runs the bowling alley has really taken a liking to us. One night we had to wait a wile for a lane, so he bought us a pitcher of beer. On the night of this picture; he told us numerous dirty jokes. One joke involved him making grunting noises and a face that will haunt us for many years to come.

When I got back from lunch I told Adam that I had gone to the taco truck, he made a gross face and referred to it as a roach coach, he then told me how he had lunch at Taco Time. At Taco Time catchup mixed with hot sauce = "salsa". To each his own I guess.

The taco truck was recently closed for "remodeling".

The people across the street dressed in black are protesting against the war.

The people across the street in red, white and blue are protesting for the war.

The people for the war seem to be in much better spirits. They smile and wave, and for the most part are much better cheerleaders than the anti-war group.

There was a birthday at work so I was having some cake.

10 minutes later, my boss brought me this ice cream sandwich.
