Long weekend
I was trying to take a picture of a giant cave man. The cave man was too far of a walk, so I took a picture of this sign instead.
These are some saucy young ladies I found in Cave Junction, Oregon.
This is outside the Oregon Caves. Inside the cave there were; fossils, roots, old tyme graffiti, albino bugs, dark places, bats, bears, cold, and reverberation.
Regina kind of looks like a duck in this picture.
Caves are neat. This is not a picture of a cave, it is a picture of a waterfall.
We all went to a pizza place. Pizza toppings were decided with great difficulty. The pizza place had a player piano, we listened to a rousing version of Take Me Home Country Roads. A side note* I really need a player piano, if you have one I will trade you both of my organs for it. In the bathroom was this painting of a duck with a rainbow landing on it's back. The rainbow continued off of the canvas and onto the wall...awesome.
I may have mentioned that kids, who live in the building next to ours, have been throwing toys out their windows. This bear attached to a wire has been hanging on the side of the building for several weeks now. I am taking bets as to how long it will stay there, I'm betting three months.
My friend Laura came to visit from New York. You may remember Laura from such posts as The Web of Lies Begins, and I hate Indiana.
We were driving to Ashland, Oregon and another car merged me off the road, resulting in our car spinning almost 180 degrees. Laura thinks it's a message from the universe, I think it has to do with magnets.
I really wanted to get out of the car and take a picture of it on the freeway, facing the wrong way. Since that seemed like a pretty bad idea, here is a picture of of Laura, the car, and something we are pretty sure did NOT fall off of the car.
During the spin we caught a butterfly in the grill. I think it will bring good luck, so I'm going to leave it there.
This is a spooky stuffed bear we saw in Ashland during The Taste of Ashland. Ashland is an extremely picturesque town, and I recommend visiting, assuming you like things that are picturesque.
This is Laura next to a portrait of a squirrel.
This is a picturesque house/gallery/restaurant/park/stream.
Apparently someone did not want there commemorative glasses. People who are regulars to the wine and food tasting circuit have special fashion accessory's for dangling wine glasses around there necks, and funny plates with built in wine glass rests. All of these accouterments are about as stylish as a fanny pack or a beer hat.
Ashland is the home of some sort of Shakespeare festival. These are some racy costumes.
At rest area on the way back we saw a singing motorcycle gang.
This is a sign for an event called "Bananas for Jesus".
This is a scenic byway to the beach.
This is a special area filled with elk. One of them chased us.
Although it's hard to tell, this is a picture of a wide river.
We stopped for lunch in Reeds Port. This isa restaurant that WAS open but, had all of it's windows blacked out for some reason.
These are breads shaped like turtles. We had sandwiches, our waitress was a little green and seemed confused by pretty much everything. The sandwiches unfortunately did NOT come on turtle shaped bread.
They had the most amazing cupcakes. I wanted all of them but, I could only afford the orange one. The woman working the counter saw my camera and asked if it was "costy".
The scenic path to the beach and sand dunes.
Laura got us stuck in the sand.
The ocean was scenic, yet cold.
We found a family of trolls living in this cave.
This is a rock with a tree growing out of it, or maybe a tree with a rock growing out of it.
This lagoon was filled with booby traps, possibly for catching hobos, or maybe pirates, or possibly hobo-pirates.
These are some very small ducks.
An X marking a spot of some sort. I think there may have been hobo-pirate gold underneath.
A warning to hobo-pirates.
In the distance you can see the Oregon Pyramids.
We stopped at an innocuous looking coffee shop. On closer inspection we found that all of the patrons were reading bibles. It turned out to be a coffee shop/Christian reading room.
